The Burren Smokehouse Tasting Room is located in Lisdoonvarna just off the Wild Atlantic Way and a short drive north from the Cliffs of Moher. Here you can sample the silky texture of the Burren Smoked Irish Organic Salmon. Discover the mystery of salmon smoking and the secret of how smoked salmon is handcrafted by watching a short video available in different languages.

Enjoy mosaics that are telling the story of the “Salmon of Knowledge”. Marvel at the nostalgic yet contemporary atmosphere in their Tasting Room and smell the oak smoke as soon as you walk through the door. Feel the occasional rumble of the smoking facilities under your feet as you explore the retired kiln and smokebox that are there for you to explore.

There is more to explore next door. In the new interactive “Taste the Atlantic – The Salmon Experience” you can follow the iconic salmon through history. Watch the story of the Salmon of Knowledge unfold before your eyes, and unlock so much knowledge through the different fascinating displays. Reel in the years and follow authentic news stories on salmon through the decades, and solve jigsaw and quiz questions. This experience is suitable for everybody from school age onwards.

And if you need a rest and a bite to eat after all these discoveries, there is the gastro-pub, the historical Roadside Tavern which is also home to the Burren Brewery (making craft beers counted among the best in Ireland by the Lonely Planet Global Beer Guide!) next door. The Burren Storehouse with its offering of pizzas, their Burren Brewery craft beers and more will be welcoming you from spring to October.
