Travelling to Doolin from Overseas: Let’s Get Back To Ireland

In July we welcomed our first international visitors to Doolin Inn for the first time in over 18 months, and we were thrilled to welcome them. Our American friends from across the pond enjoyed touching down on Irish soil after travelling to Doolin from overseas and landing at Dublin Airport. All fully vaccinated, our adult visitors didn’t have to quarantine or undergo any travel-related testing but had to fill out a Passenger Locator Form prior to departure and bring along their vaccination certificates to show proof of immunization – had they been unvaccinated, a different set of protocols would have applied – see the Irish government’s website here for up to date protocols. Once landed, our guests made their way to the car hire desk to pick up their wheels for exploring Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way and began their journey to the west coast.

Up To Date Travel Advisory Website

As a European Union member, Ireland has adopted the EU’s “emergency brake” mechanism as a means for responding quickly to the possible emergence of a variant of concern or interest. Should the “emergency brake” mechanism be applied to U.S. travelers because of evolving epidemiological conditions, entry requirements could change so our visitors made themselves familiar with the Irish government’s website here in the case of any evolving changes to the protocols.

EU Digital COVID Certificate

The EU Digital COVID Certificate (DCC) helps citizens move freely and safely within the EU during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is proof that you have either:

  • Been vaccinated against COVID-19;
  • Received a negative test result; or
  • Recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months

If you arrive in Ireland from the EU or EEA and you have an EU Digital COVID Certificate, you do not have to quarantine, unless the Certificate is based on an antigen test. All travellers must fill in an online COVID-19 Passenger Locator Form before they arrive into Ireland.

If you plan to travel to Ireland, you should know what testing and quarantine requirements are in place.
